How much does virtuoso cost?

The price of Virtuoso is $19.99.

Is it localized?

Virtuoso is currently only localized in English.

What platforms is it available for?

Virtuoso is available on Meta Quest/Rift & SteamVR.

Does it support Hand Tracking on Quest?

At the moment no, keep an eye on our social channels for if this changes!

Is virtuoso cross-buy on Quest/Rift?

Yes!

What makes virtuoso unique in VR?

Virtuoso has unique instruments that are made for VR. It's accessible and fun even for non-musicians. You can create music in real-time, share it, and collaborate with other users.

How do you save your work?

You can save your full song and set it up in the song library from the menu, or export a rendered audio file to your device with the tape recorder.

How do I use the Oorgan?

Play on the cubes with your buttons to generate sound. Each button plays a different note that changes if you move your hand along a certain axis, for example, left-right for the Trigger, and up-down for X and A. Hold multiple buttons to play chords!

How do I use the Empads?

With your virtual drum sticks, hit the Empads to create a good rhythm. You can use Tempo Sync to help you keep the beat. You can also grab and extract individual pads to create a unique drum setup!

How do I use the Wavemin?

Press a button with your hand inside the Wavemin to play, then sweep up and down to change the pitch of the note. Pushing your hand further into the Wavemin makes the note resonate more. Perfect for risers, low noisy grumblings and whale sounds!

How do I use the wHarp?

Drag your hands across the wHarp to generate sound. The further up on the strings you play the louder the notes!

How do I use the Clustr?

Tap the segments with Trigger or Grip to play a chord, or with the thumb button to play a bass note. The center segments play common triad chords, while the edges play useful variations. Tilt your hand to make the chord swell and wane.

How do I use the Board?

The Board is a flexible instrument for creating chords or melodies. Insert both of your hands and tap the cubes to generate sound. You can hold a note with one button, then move your hand to play a second note with a different button. Doing this with the Arpeggiator activated will make the notes play in sequence.

How do I use the Looper?

Press on the Looper to start recording your sounds and press it again once done. Your sounds will be saved and looped with your preferred settings. Create many loops and overlap them to create a more complex track.

How do I use the Launch Pads?

Pull out Launch Pads from the Play buttons on the loop tracks. Hit them with your hand or drumsticks to turn said loop on and off. Use the settings wheel to program the timing and fade when the loops start and stop.

How do I use the Tape Recorder?

Use the Tape Recorder to record a live performance of your song. Simply press the record button once you are ready to record, and press stop once you are done. The recorded track can be used as the preview for your song in the Song Library and can be exported to a folder on your device so you can share it elsewhere.

How do I share my songs with other users?

When you are saving your track, you can choose to upload it to the Community Library. It will then be available to other users, who can listen to it, open it to see your setup and loops, and even keep working on it or remix it!

What happens once I shared my song in the community library?

Other users can listen to your song and use it to create their own compositions. In this case, you will be listed in their song as a contributor.

How do I export my songs locally?

With the tape recorder you can record a song and export it to your device (it will appear in the folder Download on Quest, or on your Desktop on PC).

Are there any multiplayer elements?

While you cannot currently directly make music together with friends online, you can share your music in the Community Library. From there you can collaborate on songs with other users. All collaborating players will be listed in the song as contributors. Virtuoso also supports Ableton Link for playing in sync with other musicians on the same local network.

Does virtuoso support VST plugins?

No. This is due to current limitations with the Android platform and performance considerations.

Can I connect virtuoso to my desktop music software?

Yes, you can connect it to external music programs over network, using the companion app.

How many channels does virtuoso support?

32 simultaneous loops.

Can I export midi from the software?

No, right now Virtuoso exports audio renders only.

What formats can I export my song in?

Virtuoso saves all files in .wav format, but when exporting from the tape recorder a .mp4 file will also be generated that can be previewed in the Quest "Files" app.

Will you release a roadmap in the future?

Maybe.

Can you readjust the tempo after the initial settings?

Yes, you can. However, this will also change the pitch of any existing loops, so use with caution!

Will virtuoso be available on PSVR?

We have no information to share at this moment in time, but stay tuned for updates on potential other platforms!

Can you export the production if you are offline?

Yes.

Do I own the music I create in Virtuoso?

Yes! But if you share it in the community library, you are giving other players a non-exclusive right to use the song and remake it.

What is the difference between the Quest 2 & 3 version?

At the moment there are no significant differences, but we might explore ways to make use of the improved hardware in new headsets in the future.

What is the difference between the Quest 2 & SteamVR version?

At the moment this is spectator cam, LIV support & visual post effects.

What type of music can you create in Virtuoso? Is this only EDM?

Although in Virtuoso it's simpler and more immediate to create EDM music, there is no limit to what you can create by playing with different rhythms and vibes.

How long can the music be, is this infinite?

The recording tool (tape recorder) allows for a maximum of 10 minutes. But you can record multiple files.

What is the difference between the official release vs the App Lab version?

The App Lab version will no longer be supported with updates & bug fixes. The official version features multiple new environments, passthrough, new instrument visuals, general improvements, an interactive tutorial, new drum samples, pitch change features for drums samples, UI improvements with and polish, bug fixes and much more.

Can I save my instrument set up so I don’t have to keep re-doing it every time I play?

After you have created your preferred set-up, save it locally as a song and check the switch to use it as your template!

Can I add custom sounds in Virtuoso?

Officially this feature is not yet supported, but you can get help for doing so in our Discord (channel #modding) www.discord.gg/virtuoso

Will there be more instruments and sounds in Virtuoso?

Yes, we are planning to add new instruments and sounds in Virtuoso, however, we cannot give a specific date for these updates yet.

Will there be a multiplayer feature in Virtuoso?

Yes, we will work on adding some multiplayer features in the future, however, we cannot give a specific date for these updates yet.

is there be a mountable/spectactor camera in virtuoso?

Yes, though it is available on PC only.

What key and notes am I playing in Virtuoso?

You can see what key everything is set in under Song Settings. Then open up the scale panel on the instrument to see/change what notes are included on it. If you point at the scale panel you should also see the note names appear on top of the note fields.

How do I save a song?

Open the Song Library (bottom right of the menu, after Looper and Tape Recorder) and then click Save or Save As. Give it a name, decide if you're uploading to the community tab and/or cloud, and then click save. You will save all your loops and current settings, including what instruments you have pulled out.

How can I make a structured song in Virtuoso?

Once you have created different loops containing the various sounds and parts of your song, play them in sequence. Record with the tape-recorder and export to your device. Creating a full song in Virtuoso can require a bit of time and practice.

How can I reset the instruments’ size and position?

When you open the instrument from the main menu, grab the instrument button using the Grip button instead of clicking it with Trigger. This will spawn the instrument in your hand, with the original size and rotation.

Is there a piano instrument?

No. We might create piano sounds for Virtuoso in the future, but our design of the Virtuoso instruments are based on making the most out of the VR hardware and making it accessible to new players who might not be familiar with traditional instrument layouts.

Is there a lock feature to keep all instruments and tools in place?

Yes! Lock them in place by grabbing them and then pressing the thumb button that is not the menu button (X/A for Quest or B on the Valve Index). There are also icons on your controllers that should help you out. It is the same process to unlock them.
